SAP Energy Rating Assessment

The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) is the UK methodology for calculating the energy performance of dwellings. The calculation is based on the energy balance taking into account factors that contribute to energy efficiency: materials; thermal insulation; ventilation; efficiency and control of the heating system(s); solar gains; fuel used; renewable energy technologies.

Alan Pither is accredited as an On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor to carry out assessment of new homes for compliance with Part L1A of the Building Regulations and to produce Predicted Energy Assessments and Energy Performance Certificates. He is also qualified to carry out the assessment of extensions to existing homes for compliance with Part L1B of the Building Regulations where a SAP assessment is required for this purpose.

Alan also has extensive experience of the energy rating assessment of existing homes, including the assessment of affordable warmth and condensation risk.

Code for Sustainable Homes, Home Quality Mark & BREEAM Assessment

Alan Pither regularly provides advice to developers and contractors on the assessment process and achieving particular BREEAM/Code for Sustainable Homes targets in relation to planning requirements. Projects have included design and procurement assessments of office and housing developments to an Excellent standard.

Housing Stock Energy Assessment

We offer a range of housing stock energy assessment services to support the development and implementation of housing energy strategies. These generally come under one of the following categories:

Analysis of the energy performance of housing stocks for social landlords to assess average SAP energy ratings, fuel costs/affordable warmth and carbon dioxide emissions.

Analysis of the energy data collected in stock condition surveys to establish the current performance of the housing stock and make recommendations on improvement measures to achieve specific targets.
