The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) is the UK methodology for calculating the energy performance of dwellings. The calculation is based on the energy balance taking into account factors that contribute to energy efficiency: materials; thermal insulation; ventilation; efficiency and control of the heating system(s); solar gains; fuel used; renewable energy technologies.

Alan Pither is accredited as an On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor to carry out assessment of new homes for compliance with Part L1A of the Building Regulations and to produce Predicted Energy Assessments and Energy Performance Certificates. He is also qualified to carry out the assessment of extensions to existing homes for compliance with Part L1B of the Building Regulations where a SAP assessment is required for this purpose.

Alan also has extensive experience of the energy rating assessment of existing homes, including the assessment of affordable warmth and condensation risk.
